Steeped in both the vibrant rhythm's of Rio de Janeiro and the fire of Blue Note era Jazz, Zona Sul is a conglomeration of some of Chicago's best Brazilian & Jazz musicians.
The group was formed by roomates Edinho Gerber (guitar), Felipe Fraga (drums) & Jake Vinsel (bass)...all renowned musicians in their own right, and joined by one of the city's finest tenor-sax men Scott Burns. This group expands on the Getz/Gilberto mold, arrangements of legendary Brazilian songwriters Djavan, Guinga, Joao Donato, Ivan Lins and many more. Both festive and artful, Zona Sul is sure to inspire.
