Born and raised on Chicagos Southside, Kevin Nabors Jr. attended Gershwin Academy, where he began his unlikely music career.  Upon graduation from high school he attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff where he majored in Music Performance.  Kevin also attended Chicago State University where he majored in Music Education. 

 

 

He has studied under Von Freeman, Ernie Watts, Pharez Whitted, and Roxanne Stevenson.  Kevin has also done theatre work with the Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Gala, Jazz in the Alley, Black Ensemble Theatre, Muntu Dance Theatre, Goodman Theatre, Chicago Arts Building for the Performing Arts, Chicago Jazz Festival, Sons D Hiver, Vision Festival and The World Music Festival.

 

These days you can find him sharing the stage with the likes of Fred Anderson, George Freeman, Ernest Dawkins, Ari Brown, Maurice Brown, Isaiah Spencer, Guy King, Chico Debarge and Corey Wilkes. Still learning and forever growing, Kevin Nabors Jr. has a sound that will be heard.
