Darwin Noguerra's Evolution Quartet
Start Date/Time: Tuesday, July 06, 2010 9:00 PM
Description:

Nicaraguan pianist and composer, Darwin Noguera, is one of Chicago's most sought after artists on the scene.  The bold range of material his group (Evolution Quartet) covers is extensive, eluding classification into a single category.  They delve into new Latin Jazz idioms as well as classics from the Afro-Cuban, Puerto Rican, Brazilian, Central & South American repertoires.  Darwin obtained thorough classical education and training, and has broadened his vision and style to incorporate music from across the globe into his original compositions and song selections.

The quartet has accomplished an unusual fluid integration between classical, jazz, flamenco and Latin rhythms that is pleasing both to the listener and dancer. The band has played many venues and festivals, including Summer Dance, Chicago Latin Jazz Festival, Andy’s Jazz Club and the Chicago Music Awards. The Chicago Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble is another group co-founded by himself and Victor Garcia. It was featured this summer as part of the World Class Jazz Series at Millennium Park.
