The Guy King Organ Trio: In the great tradition of the Organ Trio sound, but with the added value of Vocals on the set as well, the Guy King Organ Trio plays Jazz and Soul, Standards as well as originals, and as always when it comes to a Guy King set: the BLUES.
Material and influences varies on this set and includes: Wes Montgomery, Jimmy McGriff, Nat “King” Cole, Ray Charles, Count Basie, Duke Ellington and more.
Guy King is a young musician-young, in years that is. After a short stay in Memphis and a stint in New Orleans, Guy headed north to Chicago in pursuit of greater things and a musical career, which is where he met Mr. Willie Kent. Willie took Guy in, Hired him to play for him in his ace band: the Gents, and in time made him his right hand man and band leader.
