Join us at Andy's Jazz Club while we help promote this years upcoming Chicago Jazz Festival by providing a musical taste of 2 bands performing at this years upcoming Chicago Jazz Festival.
Tonight we will be showcasing the Chicago Afro Latin Jazz Ensemble. This band will be playing the Chicago Jazz Festival at 3:30pm on Saturday, September 5th on the Jazz On Jackson Stage.
CALJE (Chicago Afro Latin Jazz Ensemble) was formed in efforts to fuse the musical treasures and musicians alike of the Afro-Latin American and Jazz genres. With a global sound and ensemble, CALJE, has played in some of the finest performance halls and highlights many of Chicago’s luminaries. Musicians in this band have had the opportunity to share the stage with artists such as; Ella Fitzgerald, Tito Puente, Celia Cruiz, Chic Corea, The Temptations, Paquito D’Rivera, and Danillo Perez, among others.
Founded in 2006 by Mexican Trupeter/Composer, Victor Garcia and Nicaraguan Pianist/Composer, Darwin Noguera – these long time musical collaborators envisioned an endeavor for Chicago that would follow in the innovative footsteps of the pioneering Dizzy Gillespie’s United Nations Orchestra at Lincoln Center. CALJE aspires to partner up with John Faddis’ Chicago Jazz Ensemble and become its other official half, the Latin Side.
